...and she has a plan. [Jul. 1st, 2009|11:42 pm]
[Tags|]

To anyone who watches "America's Got Talent" and is also a "Battlestar Galactica" fan. Did you see the crappy-singing Number Six on the show tonight (7/1)? Harmoni says that getting booed off stage is what's going to make her DESTROY US ALL.

Crazy Meets Crazy [Jun. 30th, 2009|02:25 pm]
[Current Mood | amused]
[Current Music |The sweet sound of crazy]

World renowned (and Austin based) conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag on his radio show Right Now!!! (infowars.tv) Heidi is going on about how God is telling her that birth control is amoral and detrimental to her body. Oops! Now she's babbling about Revelations, the end of the world, and the Antichrist.

Now Alex is urging that someone let Miley Cyrus (who has just heard about Jones) know that she's being used by the New World Order.

You can't BUY entertainment like this!

Grim Reaper's Havin' a Field Day [Jun. 25th, 2009|06:15 pm]
First Ed McMahon, then Farrah Fawcett today. Now CNN and ABC News.com are reporting that Michael Jackson died of that heart attack he had today. Jeez!

I understand that the Harlem Boys Choir will perform at his funeral.

Dressed in Speedos.

Just like he would've wanted.

(Too soon?)

Strange luck [May. 1st, 2009|04:12 pm]
[Current Mood | okay]
[Current Music |Taking Over Me -Evanescence]

Yesterday I won the office drawing for an 8 gig iPod Nano. Sweet!!! I've wanted a Nano for awhile now. They gave me the receipt so that I can take it back and upgrade to the 16 GB if I choose. 8 GB is plenty for now, so I'll just hang onto that extra fifty bucks. I've got plenty of bills.

The odd thing is that, some of you may remember, I won an iPod Shuffle about 3 years ago in a raffle at another job. I'll probably hand that off to my Sweetie, if she wants it. What are the odds of winning an iPod twice, in two different office drawings, I wonder? Maybe I should start playing the lottery again?

Naaaah.

Sleeping Pills And You [Jan. 28th, 2009|12:02 pm]
[Current Mood |somewhat rested]

Many of you know that I live my life in a constant state of low-level sleep deprivation. The middle of the night is the only time that I truly feel is my own, when no one will make any demands of me, so I try to make it last as long as possible. The result is I often get 4 to 6 hours of sleep per night when I need a minimum of 7 to be properly rested. During my last trip to my meds doctor last week I finally broke down and got a prescription for some sleep aids. It's the generic form of Ambien. They warn you to take it, go right to bed, and not try and do anything else. It's well known that if you force yourself to stay awake under it's influence Ambien can have some very narcotic effects. (You see this coming, don't you?)

Hey, buddy. Want some meat? [Dec. 9th, 2008|04:37 am]
[Current Mood | confused]

So yesterday afternoon we get a knock on the door. I go to answer it and there's a scruffy-looking young guy in a baseball cap standing there. On the street is a light pickup truck with some sort of freezer box taking up half the bed. Written on the truck is the name of some wholesale meat company (I wish I'd remembered the name). This fellow says that he has just completed the last delivery of wholesale steaks to customers in our area and he has some left in his truck to unload at cost. When I thank him but indicate that I have no cash he helpfully mentions that they take cash, check, and charge. I yell back to Harmoni in the house that there's a fellow here with frozen steak for sale. Does she want any frozen steak? She says, nervously, "Noo?" Our roving meat purveyor then mentions that he also has chicken and shrimp available as well. I thank him again and he cheerfully takes his leave. That's right.

Meat.

From the back of a pickup truck.

What could go wrong? I mean what are the odds of getting bad shrimp in Central Texas, from the back of a pickup truck, driven by a total stranger, right? It's easy to roll my eyes at this guy but, seriously, that has got to be one crappy job. No one ever goes to Career Day at school hoping to learn how to sell strange meat out of the back of a pickup. Is this some bizarre trend for the future. The neighborhood meat man with happy music blaring from his brightly colored meat van?

Pornos will never be the same.

Not a bad weekend [Oct. 7th, 2008|12:56 pm]
[Current Location |work]
[Current Mood | good]

[info]funnygirlkawaii and I had originally planned to attend FenCon this weekend. We took a look at our finances and realized that it would simply be impossible. (Not having enough money month to month is really wearing on us.) Since we took Friday (and Saturday, for me) off we decided to just hang out at home and make the best of things.

A good day [Sep. 28th, 2008|01:20 pm]
[Current Mood | grateful]

I just want to thank everyone who sent birthday wishes. You've made turning 40 actually fun. Special thanks to all of you who came out to breakfast and dinner yesterday. That was sooo great of you. Especially you who endured Kerbey Lane on 183. Note to self: Never do that on a Saturday morning ever again. Now that the yuppies and their kids can get to it even more easily the wait time is... amazing.

Be well everyone!

[Current Music |Just The Way You Are -Billy Joel]

My [info]funnygirlkawaii suggested that I post and get an head count for when people are going to join us tomorrow for birthday out-n-about-type-stuff. That way I'll know how big of a table to reserve at the restaurants or at the theatre.

Reply with your name and where you plan to join us. You can also call us on our cell phones. Mine is six-two-six two-seven-nine-two.

Harmoni's is four-two-six one-three-two-eight.

See ya tomorrow!

Four decades... [Sep. 23rd, 2008|12:25 am]
[Tags|]
[Current Mood | okay]
[Current Music |Harmoni's new electric toothbrush]

...and people still can't guess my age. Not bad, considering.

It's just after midnight on the 23rd and at 5am Central time (4am Mountain) I will be 40 years old. As a small gift to myself, I'm taking the day off of work and I have no plans for most of the day. My [info]funnygirlkawaii wants to take me to Fuddrucker's for dinner tonight. That works for me. As for my Saturday, here's what I'm thinking.

10am: Breakfast at Kerbey Lane on 183.

1-2pm: The only real work slated for that day. Harmoni and I must run an errand to Super Suppers to make frozen dinners for the coming week.

Sometime around 4-ish: A movie at the Tinseltown Pflugerville. "Clone Wars" if it's still playing there on Saturday.

8pm 'till whenever: Dave and Buster's on 35 and 183 for dinner and video games.

Fun things with low pressure, basically. I invite all of you join me for breakfast, movie, and or video gaming.

Hope to see you then!
